How often do you need to seal your concrete?

The industry recommendation is to apply a surface sealer each year for the first ten years after installtion of your new concrete.

Answer

The frequency of applyuing a sealer depends on the product you are using. Surface sealers need to be reapplied annually to maintain the coverage on your driveway.

Sealers wear off faster in areas of high use and if it comes into contact with salt. For example the path you driveway your car up the driveway into the garage will wear faster than a back yard patio.

Penetrating sealers, depending on the type, can be reapplied every 5 years      ( twice in a ten year period) with some only one applied is needed for the life of your concrete.
