What happens when you seal decorative concrete?

A sealer will deepen the color of the concrete. The type of sealer you should use depends upon whether you want to add shine.

Answer

If you choose a surface sealer, this will add depth and shine to the color of the concrete whether it is exposed aggregate or colored concrete.

The other alternative is a penetrating sealer. A sealer that penetrates the concrete surface may slightly deepen the color but does not add shine.

Decide upon the look you are going for; choose a surface sealer for depth and shine or a penetrating sealer if you want to deepen the color without adding shine.
